By Shari Swanson

Many enthusiasts of art are dreaming of purchasing their own collection of original abstract paintings in the future. Many actually believe that such art is not popular however, there are many collectors that prefer to buy such as opposed to traditional portraits. Many artists today are actually creating art based on such methods.

Abstract painting is a new form of art that seeks to create an image that is different from those seen commonly by our visions. The image is recreated in a way that expresses the artist's own perspective. These are art works that do not rely mainly on recreating a perfect image of a single object or event.

It is based on the concept of abstraction. This is a form of departure from depicting real images through art. It can either be partial departure, slight or complete.

Such works have many alterations in them. The most popular are those with distorted shapes and unrealistic colors. Once the abstraction is a complete one, you will not be able to recognize any trace of the image being portrayed in the painting.

Some are altered geometrically. Some works depict various lines and figures that together create images of different objects. Others go for more figurative methods. These are works that seek to present non-visual things like that of strong felt emotions.

Many dealers are now preferring to trade with such art forms compared to traditional ones. Modern society is also showing more acceptance to such art due to several factors. This includes that natural complexity of modern society that can perfectly be depicted through such art. Thus, it is considered as perfect representations of the complex nature of the current world.

More and more collectors are searching for original abstract paintings to add to their collection. Most of them purchase those that are made by professionals but there are still some that appreciate the works of amateur painters as well. Such art forms are definitely going mainstream in the next years.
