Some Important Information On Tying A Turban

By Terrie Joyner

Tying a turban has been practiced for many years and by different people. Most communities in the northern parts of Africa, the Middle East and Asia have used the headbands for centuries. They all may have their different reasons for wearing the head gear and these reasons often influence the design in which they tie the head band.

Before you even start thinking of how to wrap the headband, you must list a number of influential aspects. You must make it a point to consider the reason for wrapping the headband in the first place. This is because religious turbans may be tied in a different style as compared to the cultural ones that might also have some inclinations.

The designs of tying headbands will vary greatly based on religious as well as cultural reasons which are the most common. Some people also use the same as a fashion thing and others yet due to medical or health reasons. Persons under cancer treatment for example often loose their hair due to the effect of the drugs and medication administered.

The Hindus for example have specific colors used to wrap the headbands. It is also worn because of religious reasons and that is why there are specific designs on how to tie the same. It will take a religious leader to wear certain colors and designs and thus the reason why you need to understand the religion before you can start tying headbands in any way.

Many religions have special styles of wrapping the head gears. Muslims for example may even have a specific demand on colors that can be used and those that may not be used. Hindus similarly have their own color choices. It always takes a knowledgeable religious leader to know what colors are acceptable as well as the style of tying the gear.

Some religions have special methods that every member must follow when tying a headband. In case you are dealing with a member of these groups, you must start by understanding what the groups believe in and if they have any choice of style or material that you must use, you should make inquiries to be sure that you are on the right track.

According to the origin of the turbans in the communities that live in the Sahara desert and most of the Middle Eastern deserts stretching from Israel to Iraq and beyond, it has been established that the head band was worn to protect the hair from the blowing sand that is so common in the desert. As the wind blows, the sand gets into the hair in deserts.

Some designs of tying a turban can be very costly because they require longer threads of material as compared to others. It is therefore upon the client to decide on the best way forward after thinking of the probable difference in the size of cloth needed to do a certain style as compared to that for another. Affordability is therefore a major factor that one cannot afford to ignore unless you are not buying the material to use.
