What To Search For When Getting An LA Photographer

By Claude Sable

If you've got an event coming up that needs a cameraman, or you own a website or magazine based in LA that needs new pictures, then you'll be in the market for an LA photographer. There are many different execs to choose from in the Hollywood area, which can sometimes be a blessing and a curse. It is a blessing as you get to select from some of the most accomplished people in the business. It is a curse because there is always that possibility that you may have hired someone more accomplished that would have taken less cash.

Step 1 in your search for a LA photographer is to chat to the people you know who have already exploited a cameraman and get referrals from them. You would be surprised at how many positive personal referrals you'll get from folk you know who deal with a pro that they think really highly of. A confident rating from someone you know is generally the best way to start the chase for any type of service professional. When you can get started with words of confidence from individuals that you trust, then you're off to a great start.

Any LA shutter-bug who is interested in your offer will be more than willing to meet with you and show you his portfolio. Do not be stunned if some photographers decline your invitation for a meeting. A real pro never takes on more work than he will do with confidence and quality. You need to basically be thankful that a few of the people turn you down, and you need to keep those names for later.

The people that tell you their diaries are too full are the ones you want to keep in contact with for future projects. Sit down with each LA photographer and just go thru their work. Ask them questions on how they might handle your project and pay serious attention to their answers.

You wish to select someone that gets the results you are searching for and takes an approach to the project that you feel good about. If someone has concepts that run contrary to what you had in mind, then you're not going to get the pictures that you had hoped for. You must trust in the inventive instincts of a pro, but you should also be guarded about making sure you get what you want.
